about a girl

well hello there! i am so excited you have found your way to my blog! while you are here, how about i tell you a little about me personally and as a photographer ...

about a girl:  above all, Christ is my cornerstone, without Him i am nothing ... i have been married for thirteen years and counting to a man who still opens my car door ... i am a mother to an amazing nine year old young lady who inspires me every single day ... at the young age of thirty five i still say ma'am and sir ...  i am a true believer in accessorizing, my motto is the gaudier the better ... drinking unsweet tea should be against the law ... y'all and bless your heart are commonly used in my conversations ...  i  am at peace knowing i am not perfect ...  i live in my heels and sleep in my makeup ...  i love the smell of honeysuckle and fresh cut grass ... i still chase after fireflies on hot summer nights ... i make wishes on shooting stars ... i love hearing children laugh and giggle ... i love thunderstorms and the calm that is brought after the storms ... i am real, what you see is what you get ... i can still do a cartwheel, well kind of ...  i am a sucker for reality television and i am ok admitting it ... i could listen to my daughter tickle the ivories of a piano all day long ... i believe in happy ever afters ... family is everything to me ...  i love knowing i am still a work in progress ...

about a girl photographer: i do not see myself as just a photographer, i am a storyteller too ... i believe in taking notice of the little things ... my style is classic with an element of rawness ... i strive to capture true emotion not something fabricated ... i have fun and it is my goal for my clients to have fun ... i absolutely l-o-v-e what i do ... i am my worst critic ... i still get over-the-moon excited with each session i book and each new family i get to meet ... thankfully i know all the words to 'if you're happy and you know it' and 'the itsy bitsy spider' ... i understand that not every child, teenager, couple or family are the same therefore they shouldn't be treated as such ... i am passionate about each story i tell through my images ... i am a firm believer in what you see isn't always the image you will get, i view things through my lens in a totally different way, so thank you for trusting me and my creativity ... my images may be different than most of my fellow local photographers and i am good with that, i spent years trying to duplicate other photographer's style, technique, images and editing approach until one day i looked up and realized i am not being true to the  creative gift God had given me, i have learned to be excited by the fact that i skip to the beat of a different drum and my images reflect my own unique style ... i love knowing i am still a work in progress ...
